A life sim in your browser — no download, no account

NPC.LIFE is a tiny village that keeps living in your browser — you create one NPC and look out for them.

There's nothing to install here. No app store, no launcher, no client to keep updated. NPC.LIFE runs as a page in your browser, and that page is the entire game.

Open it, and it's already running

The page is built so nothing blocks the first frame — fonts and the game code load in the background rather than holding up the view, so the village is moving fast, typically well under two seconds on an ordinary connection. There's no loading screen to sit through and no install step in between wanting to play and actually playing.

No account, ever

There's no sign-up and no login. You don't create a username or a password, and the game never asks for either. Open the page and your village is already there — literally the entire setup is naming your NPC and picking how they look.

Where your game actually lives

Your NPC, your village, and everything that's happened in it are stored only in your own browser's local storage, on your own device. There's no server holding a copy of your game and no account tying it to an email address — which also means it's genuinely private: we don't operate anything that could see your NPC's name, your village's state, or anything that happens inside it. The tradeoff is honest, too: because nothing is synced to a server, your village lives in that one browser on that one device. Clearing your browser's site data, or opening the game in a different browser, starts a new one.

Why that's worth caring about

An install is a small decision every game asks you to make before you've even seen if you like it: find it, download it, wait, open it, maybe create an account. Each step is a place someone reasonably decides it isn't worth the trouble. A browser game with no download and no account skips all of it — the distance between "this looks interesting" and actually seeing your NPC is one click. That's not a technical detail; it's the whole reason the game can afford to be this quiet about asking for your attention. It doesn't need to hook you before you've committed to installing it, because there was never an install to commit to.

Works on whatever you already have

NPC.LIFE runs on both mobile and desktop browsers, laid out to be usable one-handed in portrait on a phone. There's no separate mobile app and no desktop client — the same page adapts to the screen it's opened on. If your device can run an ordinary website, it can run this. If you'd rather it sat closer at hand, some browsers let you add the page to your home screen as a shortcut — still no store, no separate download, just a quicker way back to the same tab.

Free, genuinely

NPC.LIFE is free to play, with no purchase required to play it and no paywall blocking any part of the game behind a download you'd have to pay for first. What you see when you open the page is the actual game, not a demo of it.
