What is NPC.LIFE
NPC.LIFE is a tiny village that keeps living in your browser — you create one NPC and look out for them.
Most of us spend our days as the extra in somebody else's story: wake up, do the loop, come home, sleep, repeat. NPC.LIFE flips that. You create one person, and by creating and noticing them, you make them the center of a small world. They wake with the real clock, work, wander, meet neighbors, argue, make up, and sleep — on their own, whether you're watching or not.
You don't control them
There's no character to steer here. What you can do is smaller, and better: do a small kindness for them, suggest they visit a friend, point out something in the village that needs doing, or help the village build something over real days. They usually go along with it. Sometimes they say no — it's their life, and honestly, the moments they say no are the moments they feel most alive.
The village keeps going while you're gone
Close the tab. The village doesn't pause. Crops keep growing, a project you started keeps advancing, the weather moves through, and the day rolls into the next one — all worked out from real timestamps, not a server ticking somewhere. When you come back, the world looks different before anyone says a word, and your NPC tells you what happened while you were away, like a friend catching you up.
How it works, in short
Open the page and someone is already living — a small farm village with fields, a market, a bakery, a river, animals, and a handful of neighbors going about their day. You name your NPC, pick how they look, and that's the whole setup. From there you're a quiet presence: a few small kindnesses, a suggestion here and there, a project you can help fund with village time, and — always — the option to just watch.
No account, no install, free
Nothing to download and nothing to sign up for. Your NPC and the village's history are saved in your own browser, and they belong only to you — nobody else's village looks like yours or has your history in it.
